Become a General Member of Greater Noakhali Club of Australia Inc. (GN Club) and take an active role in our growing community.
General Membership is a Voting Membership designed for eligible individuals who want to participate in GN Club activities, contribute to our charitable and community objectives, and have a voice in the future direction of the Association.
General Member Benefits
As a Financial General Member, you can enjoy:
• Priority Event Invitations – Receive first priority for invitations and registration opportunities for eligible GN Club events, programs and activities, particularly where places are limited.
• Voting Rights – Have one vote at General Meetings while you remain a Financial Member.
• Have Your Voice Heard – Participate in eligible General Meetings and contribute to important decisions affecting GN Club.
• Nomination Rights – Subject to the Constitution, nominate and second eligible candidates for elected positions.
• Opportunity to Stand for Elected Office – Eligible General Members may stand for Management Committee positions, subject to the additional eligibility requirements of the Constitution.
• Member Updates & Early Notifications – Receive GN Club news, event announcements, program information, volunteering opportunities and important membership communications.
• Community Programs & Activities – Participate in eligible cultural, educational, social, sporting, recreational, volunteering and community-development activities.
• Community & Professional Connections – Build relationships with community members, families, professionals, volunteers, community leaders and businesses.
• Make a Positive Impact – Contribute to GN Club's charitable and community initiatives supporting multicultural communities, youth, women and girls, seniors, families, migrants, new arrivals and people experiencing disadvantage.
Who Can Apply?
To apply for General Membership, you must:
• Be 18 years of age or older;
• Be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or person lawfully residing in Australia;
• Ordinarily have an ancestral, family or cultural origin from Greater Noakhali — Noakhali, Feni or Lakshmipur districts of Bangladesh;
• The Greater Noakhali origin requirement does not apply to the spouse, de facto partner or legally recognised partner of an otherwise eligible Voting Member applicant; and
• Support GN Club's objects and agree to comply with its Constitution, By-laws, policies and lawful resolutions.
Important
General Membership is an annual-fee paying Voting Membership.
Submitting an application and paying the membership fee does not automatically confirm membership. Membership begins only after approval by the GN Club Management Committee and entry in the Register of Members.
A complete application will normally be determined within 90 days. If an application is refused, the application or membership fee paid will be refunded within 30 days, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.
Membership is generally valid for 12 months from the commencement date and is renewable by payment of the applicable annual membership fee.
Membership Period: 365 days from the membership commencement date, subject to annual renewal.
By joining, you agree to comply with the GN CLUB Constitution Version 1.1.2, By-laws, policies and lawful resolutions of the Association.
Terms and Conditions
Your personal information will be collected, used, stored and managed by Greater Noakhali Club of Australia Inc. (GN Club) for purposes including membership administration, donations, events, community programs, communications, volunteering, fundraising and other lawful activities of the Association. Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable Australian privacy requirements and GN Club’s Privacy Policy.
Membership Applications and Fees
Membership is subject to eligibility requirements and Management Committee approval in accordance with the GN Club Constitution.
Payment of a membership fee does not, by itself, confirm membership or provide voting or governance rights. Membership commences only after the application has been approved and the applicant has been entered in the Register of Members.
A complete membership application will normally be determined within 90 days. If an application is refused, any application or membership fee paid for that application will be refunded within 30 days, unless otherwise permitted or required by law.
An applicant may also withdraw their application in writing within 10 business days of submission and receive a full refund of application and membership fees paid, provided the application has not already been determined.
Except where otherwise provided by the GN Club Constitution, these Terms and Conditions, or applicable law, membership fees already paid are generally non-refundable.
Donations and Other Payments
Donations, membership fees and other funds received by GN Club are used to further the Association’s charitable and community purposes, including community programs, education, cultural activities, youth and family initiatives, events, community support, fundraising activities and reasonable operational costs.
Making a donation, sponsorship or other financial contribution does not automatically provide membership, voting rights, governance rights or any other membership entitlement.
Unless GN Club or the relevant fund is validly endorsed or otherwise entitled by law, donations must not be represented as tax-deductible and GN Club will not issue a DGR receipt.
Online Payments
Online payments may be securely processed by third-party payment providers such as Stripe. By making an online payment, you also agree to any applicable terms and conditions and privacy requirements of the relevant payment provider.
Use of Funds
Where funds raised for a particular event, activity or community initiative exceed the amount reasonably required, or where circumstances prevent the intended activity from proceeding, any remaining funds may be applied to other lawful charitable and community programs, services or activities consistent with GN Club’s objects, subject to any applicable donor restrictions, funding conditions and legal requirements.
Acceptance
By submitting a membership application, donation or other payment, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and agreed to these Terms and Conditions, the GN Club Constitution, Privacy Policy and other applicable GN Club policies.
Where there is any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and the GN Club Constitution or applicable law, the Constitution and applicable law will prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.
